Remote Learning

We have risen to the challenge of remote learning in the past and have developed a detailed plan to build on the strengths of our previous provision for remote education. We want to ensure that the children who attend Mawnan School continue to have access to their curriculum and high quality education whilst at home.

Our remote learning aims are to:

  • Ensure consistency in the approach to remote learning for pupils who aren’t in school
  • Set out expectations for all members of the school community with regards to remote learning
  • Ensure pupils unable to attend school remain fully included within the school community and don’t fall behind
  • Ensure that remote education is integrated into the curriculum and sits either alongside classroom teaching, or in the case of a local lockdown instead of classroom teaching

The attached remote learning plan provides details of our curriculum offer which we will be assigning through Google Classrooms.

Google Classrooms is a safe and secure solution and every child has a unique login to its online classroom. Oppie and Topper Class have their email addresses in their reading diaries and Pico, Fusion and Dart know their log in details as they are already using the platform in school. I have attached a parent guide to google classrooms for your information.

If your child is in Key Stage 2 they have the option of borrowing their personal Chromebook that they use in school for remote learning. We would like all Key Stage 2 parents to complete this short form to indicate whether they would like to borrow a school Chromebook or not. If you do require a chrome book to facilitate remote learning, please fully complete the device loan agreement.

If your child is on EYFS or Key Stage 1 and you do not have an available device at home then the school can lend your child a school iPad. Please let your child’s teacher know if this is the case.
